The Classroom is a series of large-scale figurative paintings and small installations that explore the complex nature of the classroom. 

Drawing from my experiences as both once being a student and currently an educator, I create imagined classroom scenes populated by figures developed through observation, memory, and invention. 

The classroom interests me because it is both deeply personal and strangely universal. It is one of the first places where we learn how to exist among people outside our families, negotiate how we are perceived, and begin forming identities of our own.

Through painting and installation, The Classroom considers the complicated space between our private selves and the versions of ourselves we present to others.
