Take a journey through images of daily life and afterlife in the art of ancient Egypt. For the Egyptians, art was not a framed picture casually admired on a wall; rather, it was so important that it was carved into the stone walls, presented in friezes, bas-relief, painted surfaces and sculpted walls. Egyptian artists sought to make present the eternal essence of their subjects. Their work was recorded in public places, pyramids, tombs, temples and papyrus. Art was all around, helping people to express and stay connected to vital ideas about themselves and their lives. In this visual presentation on the life and beliefs of ancient Egyptians, we will reflect on what mattered to the artists and what still matters to us today.

Badia Rahman has researched, taught, and produced film and photography at such institutions as the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, The Louvre Museum in Paris, King Saud University in Saudi Arabia and The University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has produced numerous exhibits in the United States and abroad, including multiple exhibits for the Save the Nubian Monuments Drive, under the auspices of UNESCO, United Nations.
