Discover why we need play as adults as much as we did when we were children. Research increasingly suggests that play and creativity are integral to the process of human development throughout the lifespan. Play relaxes and energizes—it is fun, even joyful. And it serves the invaluable purpose of freeing us from the prison of adult pretense.

In this experiential lecture and workshop, we will rediscover the art of playing and examine the key role Jung played in the development of the creative arts therapies. Jung's playful relationship with the inner world opened up the vast realm of the collective unconscious. He took seriously the importance of play even in his later years, as he sat for hours at the lakeshore, making small rivulets in the sand with a stick. We will also explore the archetype of the child through story, dream, music, image, and other art forms as options for us to play with during our time together.
