5:45 PM - 7:15 PM
$40 ($30 Jung Center members)

Discover the benefits of Tibetan sound meditation, which has been the subject of remarkable research at MD Anderson Cancer Center. The practice integrates breathing and visualization with vocalization of ancient Tibetan sounds. In this two-part course, we will explore the striking research suggesting that this technique has significant benefits for chemotherapy patients dealing with cognitive impairments such as loss of memory and executive function. Then, we will practice this technique together. No prior meditation experience is necessary.

Alejandro Chaoul, PhD, has been a student of Tibetan Buddhism since 1989 and has studied with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, and Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche. He is an Assistant Professor at MD Anderson Cancer Center's Integrative Medicine Program where he teaches Tibetan meditation to cancer patients, their families and caregivers, and researches the effects of Tibetan mind-body practices with cancer patients.
