What does it mean to take responsibility? How do the choices I make define who I am? If I am not responsible for my circumstances, what am I responsible for? These questions are deeply existential, and at the same time very practical. Meaning-oriented psychologist and philosopher Viktor Frankl explored these ideas throughout his career. Using lecture and exercises, we will explore how the choices we make define us as human beings and introduce a model for evaluating self-responsibility that everyone can start using right away.

Michael Winters is a psychologist in private practice in Houston. He is a Diplomate in Logotherapy (meaning-centered psychotherapy) and serves on the faculty of the Viktor Frankl Institute of Logotherapy.
