Learn techniques to make self-portraits from life and from photographs using a variety of mediums including pencil, paint, oil pastel, and collage. Self-portraits are a great tool for self-exploration as well as for goal setting and creativity. The works created in the class can be used as art work, journal pages, a family tree, tools for achieving your goals, or just a fun opportunity to be creative. No drawing or painting experience is necessary. Please bring watercolor paper, set of watercolors, pastels, pencil, glue stick, and photos to work from.
Lisa Qualls received her BFA at the University of Texas at Austin. While teaching art in the classroom, she continued to study photography, ceramics, textiles and printmaking at Santa Chiara, Italy; Parsons and The Fashion Institute of Technology, New York; and the Southwest School of Art and Craft, San Antonio.
