Fairy Tale on Film: C. S. Lewis and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

Venture through the wardrobe and into the imagination of the man who created the Chronicles of Narnia, C.S. Lewis. In the first two weeks, we will learn about Lewis' life and work and explore the intriguing differences between the film and the original book. Then we will discuss such themes as the imaginative life and the role of myth and story and look at how this enduring tale might speak to us in our everyday lives. On June 1 at 7:30, one week before the course begins, The Jung Center will host a free screening of Andrew Adamson's 2005 film The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Andrew Lazo is a well-known speaker, writer, and expert on C.S. Lewis. He holds an MA in English from Rice University, where he was Jacob K. Javits Fellow in the Humanities. He currently teaches literature at the University of Houston, Clear Lake.
