Meditation, Mindfulness and Insight: Ancient Skills for Modern Times
Stanley Merrill
Thursdays, 5:45 - 7:15 pm
Feb 4 - Mar 11
$105 ($90 Jung Center members)
Learn how meditation helps us cope with difficulties and prosper despite the stresses of everyday life. A practice that cultivates awareness, concentration, focus and insight, meditation can be used to relax the body, slow the breathing, and diffuse emotions, allowing us to make insightful responses instead of emotionally-charged reactions. The equanimity we experience allows us to mindfully observe our own behavior patterns, gain insight into them, and discover how to view the world from a more compassionate, open and spiritual perspective.
Stanley Merrill has studied Buddhist philosophy and meditation for 15 years. He has completed the Dharma Apprenticeship Program (DAP) with Anam Thubten Rinpoche, founder and head teacher of the Dharmata Foundation, as well as a class preparing individuals to teach "Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction," taught by Jon Kabat-Zinn through the University of Massachusettes Medical School.
