Greek and Roman Mythology: An Introduction to Myth and Theory

Explore the world of Greek and Roman myth in this entertaining and accessible class. We will focus on such authors as Hesiod, Homer, Virgil, Ovid, and the playwrights, and we will encounter the chief heroes and heroines of antiquity. We will also examine the historical contexts of these stories, and we will discuss contemporary myth theory.
Further readings to be announced in class and available in the bookstore.

Andrew Lazo is a well-known speaker, writer, and expert on C.S. Lewis. He holds an MA in English from Rice University, where he was Jacob K. Javits Fellow in the Humanities. After four years teaching mythology at the University of Houston, Clear Lake, Andrew curently teaches English at St. Thomas High School.
